Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most often about therapy, CBT, and getting started.

Everything you might want to know before getting started. If your question isn't answered here, message us on WhatsApp โ€” we're happy to chat.

Do I need a GP referral to start therapy?+
No. You can self-refer directly โ€” just message us on WhatsApp or complete our contact form. We respond within 24 hours and can usually offer a first appointment within 5โ€“10 working days.
How quickly can I get an appointment?+
Significantly faster than NHS waiting lists. Most clients have their free consultation within a few days and begin regular sessions within 1โ€“2 weeks.
Do you offer in-person sessions?+
All our sessions are delivered online via Zoom and by telephone. Research consistently shows online therapy is equally effective as in-person โ€” and for many people it's more convenient and accessible.
How much do sessions cost?+
Fees are discussed and agreed at your free consultation. We're always transparent about costs upfront โ€” no surprises. Contact us via WhatsApp for current pricing.
How long is each session?+
Therapy and counselling sessions are 50 minutes. Life coaching sessions are 60 minutes. Your free initial consultation is 15โ€“20 minutes.
What is CBT and how does it work?+
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) works by helping you identify how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected โ€” and learning practical skills to change unhelpful patterns. It's structured, evidence-based, and recommended by NICE for anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD. Read more in our CBT guide.
Can I see a therapist if I'm under 18?+
Yes โ€” we work with young people aged 13 and over. Written parental or guardian consent is required before therapy begins. The young person's confidentiality is fully respected throughout.
Is everything I say confidential?+
Yes โ€” everything is strictly confidential. The only exceptions are serious risk to life, a safeguarding concern, or a legal requirement. These are explained fully at the start of therapy.
What's the difference between counselling, CBT, and psychotherapy?+
Counselling is typically more exploratory and present-focused. CBT is structured and skills-based, targeting specific patterns of thinking and behaviour. Psychotherapy tends to be deeper, longer-term work exploring underlying patterns. Your therapist will help you identify the right approach at your consultation.
How do I know if therapy is working?+
You and your therapist will regularly review progress against the goals you set together. Most people notice changes in how they feel and cope within a few sessions โ€” though deeper change often builds over time.
