Carrie McLelland
CBT, Trauma and Group Therapist Β· MBACP Β· MNCPS Accredited
I have been working with charities over the last 5 years providing mental health support and facilitating group wellbeing sessions to educate young people facing ongoing challenges around how to process their emotions and manage difficult situations.
My recent experience working with an EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) where I work with a range of conditions and difficult situations faced by clients, allows me to explore the needs of the clients and provide the best options of treatment.
As a therapist I work with individuals from 13 years old and up. I have experience working with people of all ages and adapt my treatment to their needs. My aim as a therapist is to help my clients to understand and process emotions in a safe space, collaboratively set realistic goals to allow them to move forward in a helpful and more positive way β working with the client to ensure they feel listened to without judgement.
Areas I Work With
- Depressive Disorders
- Anxiety Disorders
- Trauma β childhood & PTSD
- Low Mood & Stress
- Low Self-Esteem & Confidence

Therapeutic Approaches
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Identifying how our thoughts impact our emotions and behaviours β often in a negative way. Looking for patterns in thinking styles and understanding what influences these to gain helpful ways to challenge and improve the effects of this.
Trauma Exposure Therapy
Providing a safe space to process and gradually be exposed to events and situations that continue to affect daily functioning. Building resilience and creating individual safe spaces as a coping strategy.
Group Therapy
Facilitating groups of individuals to explore their experiences and emotions in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Providing support through empathy and altruism.
